They made it through spring practice, when the Ohio State Buckeyes got their first taste of playing for demanding coach Urban Meyer.
From now until preseason camp starts in early August, the players will be on their own.
That doesn’t mean it’s vacation time — far from it. Meyer firmly believes that the leadership and self-discipline his players show until camp starts will largely determine how successful the team is this fall.
In a news conference on Wednesday, Meyer shared his belief that raw talent can carry a team to seven or eight victories a season. A strong sense of discipline can push that to nine victories. To achieve anything beyond that takes superb leadership.
